Drowning in Indecision
by Patricia McGehee

When is speaking up timely?
Always…
Never…
Too presumptuous…
Too rebellious…
Too scary…
Reticence is safe…
Lest you forget
Result
An inundation of regret
***

When is moving on timely?
Anytime…
Sometime…
Not now…
Too risky…
Too soon…
Too threatening…
Cling to debate
Result
Someday arrives too late
***

When is letting go timely?
As reality surfaces
Yet…
But…
Not now…
Reconsider…
Maybe later…
Hang on tight
Result
Paralyzing irrational fright
***

When is surrender timely?
At the end of the rope
Fear sinks…
Courage floats…
Loosen the grip…
Speak up…
Move on…
Let it be
Result
Revival in a calm internal sea
***

In celebration of National Poetry Month, Life Enrichment Center writers and artists have published “Poetic Artistry”… a collection of poetry and art! Check back often as we will post a new poem and its corresponding piece of art every day or so throughout April. Or purchase a copy of the book here!
