7th Annual Christmas in July Event Honors Tampa Veterans and Their Caregivers

Christmas comes twice a year for the 50+ residents of Haley’s Cove, a residential nursing home facility on the James A. Haley Veterans’ Hospital campus in Tampa.

The Life Enrichment Center (LEC) and Dancing with Grace Productions delivered world class entertainment and gift bags to local veterans residing at Haley’s Cove Community Living Center for the 7th year in a row. On Friday, July 28th, Haley’s Cove residents and caregivers were treated to a fun afternoon of salsa, singing, belly dancing, DJ Willie, youth performances, and much more. Volunteer and producer Grace Badillo, an award winning dance instructor with Dancing with Grace Productions, always delivers a high-quality, high-energy ensemble. Each veteran also received a patriotic-themed cinch sack full of gifts donated by the community, and a hand-painted cigar box by a local artist.

“This is an opportunity for the Life Enrichment Center and our community partners, like Grace Badillo, to celebrate Tampa’s veterans and their families,” said Maureen Murphy, Executive Director of the Life Enrichment Center. “The entertainment lineup that Grace puts together each year is phenomenal and brings such joy to the residents of Haley’s Cove. We are honored to be a part of this event.”

Haley’s Cove currently has 50+ residents. This event honors the residents and their caretakers and family members. The performers volunteer their time and talents and many are veterans themselves. The Life Enrichment Center is able to cover a portion of the event costs through a generous grant from the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC). Additional event sponsors include: The Hernandez Law Firm who sponsored the purchase of the cinch sacks, TECO, Imaging Experts, Serving Health Insurance Needs of Elders (SHINE), Turner and Associates, Florida Division of Cultural Affairs, Stamatakis + Thalji + Bonanno, Chapel Cigars, and Avon Sales Rep Karen Albert Warren.
